Affordable Tours of Versailles from Paris: What Are Your Recommendations?

Hi everyone! I’m planning a day trip to Versailles from Paris, and with so many tour options out there, I’m feeling a bit lost. I really want to enjoy my visit without spending a fortune. I’ve noticed that some tours can be quite expensive, and I’m curious if they offer enough value for the price.

Have any of you found budget-friendly tours that you’d recommend? I’d love to find one that gives me enough time to explore the gardens and maybe grab a meal at a local restaurant. Also, what do you think are the must-have features for a good Versailles tour? Is it better to book in advance, or can you snag some good last-minute deals?

Thanks for any tips or experiences you can share!

I did a budget tour last summer and it was pretty good! We had time to roam the gardens and even got lunch at a nearby café without breaking the bank. Definitely book ahead if you can; last-minute stuff seemed more limited and pricier. The audio guides were a must for me—they really added to the experience!

Check out the RATP website for combining train tickets and entry fees. It’s way cheaper than most guided tours and you can take your time in the gardens. I went last summer and just felt so much more free exploring on my own. Definitely book your tickets in advance to skip the lines!
