Are expat tour agencies in London a good option?

Navigating London as an expat can seem daunting with so many tour options available. It may be tempting to enlist a tour agency to help discover the city, but do they truly provide the authentic experiences travelers seek, or are they just focused on the well-known tourist spots?

Some expats I know have found value in using tour agencies to uncover local favorites and hidden gems in London. They claim that guided tours allowed them to connect with the city’s culture in a way they couldn’t achieve on their own. However, I’ve also heard mixed opinions regarding the costs and whether the experiences really stand out.

Has anyone in this community used a tour agency in London while living here? What were your thoughts? Did you feel it was worth the money, or do you prefer to explore the city independently?

I’ve used a few agencies for specific tours, and while they were pricier, I did find some cool local spots I wouldn’t have discovered on my own. If you’re on a budget, though, free walking tours can be a good way to get the same info without the cost. Just be sure to tip your guide!

I tried a small expat-focused tour agency last year, and it was surprisingly worth it. They took us to some cool spots that I’d never have found on my own, plus the guides shared insider info that made the experience feel more personal. But, yeah, it can get pricey, so I’d recommend checking for deals or group discounts to make it more budget-friendly!
