Hidden Gems to Discover in Italy

Italy is often associated with iconic cities like Rome and Florence, but there are countless lesser-known destinations that deserve attention. For instance, has anyone had the chance to visit Tropea in Calabria? Its breathtaking beaches and enchanting old town feel like a well-kept secret, far removed from the typical tourist crowds.

Another intriguing location is Matera, known for its ancient cave dwellings. It offers a fascinating glimpse into history that contrasts sharply with the hustle and bustle of major cities. For those who like to pack their itineraries with unique experiences, how do you uncover these hidden gems? What are your favorite spots that aren’t usually found on tourist maps?

Tropea really is amazing! I visited last summer and the beaches were stunning— crystal clear water. Matera is also a must-see; walking through those cave dwellings felt like stepping back in time. I usually find hidden gems through local blogs or just chatting with locals when I’m there. What’s your best tip?

Tropea is awesome! I went there a couple of years ago, and the views from the cliffs are just stunning. Also, if you haven’t checked out Civita di Bagnoregio, it’s this tiny village on a hilltop with crazy charm and hardly any tourists. Totally worth a visit!
