Is Luxury Train Travel in Spain Worth It in 2026?

I’m planning a trip to Spain and the idea of traveling by luxury train sounds incredibly appealing. Just imagining fine dining while beautiful landscapes glide by feels like a dream. With so many options out there, though, how can you tell which train journey truly lives up to the luxury experience?

From what I’ve read, trains like the Al Andalus and the Transcantábrico offer unique adventures that blend comfort with cultural highlights. However, they come with a hefty price tag, and I’m curious if fellow travelers believe it’s worth it. Has anyone recently taken a luxury train in Spain? How was your experience, and would you recommend it?

I’m also interested in discovering the best routes and any hidden gems along the way. What do you think should be on the must-do list for a luxury train journey in Spain?

I took the Al Andalus last summer, and honestly, it was a blast. The dining was top-notch, and the views through Andalusia were incredible—just stunning countryside! But yeah, it ain’t cheap. Make sure to check out the local wine tours along some of the stops; they were a highlight for me!
