I’ve had great experiences exploring London on my own. There are so many cool neighborhoods and little cafes that you wouldn’t find on a typical tour. But I did go on a food tour once that introduced me to amazing spots in Borough Market I wouldn’t have discovered otherwise. It really depends on what you’re looking for!

Going solo can be amazing since you can stumble upon those hidden spots that aren’t on the tour list. But if you’re keen on food, consider a food tour early on to get the lay of the land—you’ll discover some great local favorites! After that, wandering is the best way to soak in the vibe.
