What’s the best time to visit Italy for nice weather?

I’m gearing up for an exciting trip to Italy, but I’m unsure about the timing. Italy has such varied climates in different regions—when would be the ideal time to visit? I’ve heard spring and fall are great for pleasant weather, helping me steer clear of both the hot summer sun and the big crowds. But how do specific regions like Tuscany or the Amalfi Coast compare?

Some friends recommend May, when everything is blooming and the temperatures are comfortable, while others swear by early October for the fewer tourists and cooler evenings. As someone who loves a busy itinerary filled with popular attractions and hidden gems, is there one of these times that’s particularly better? I’d love to hear about your experiences with the weather during your trips to Italy!

May is definitely nice, especially in Tuscany. The weather’s usually warm but not too hot, plus the countryside looks amazing with all the flowers. I went in early October once, and while it was beautiful and less crowded, I missed the full bloom of spring. If you’re up for some outdoor stuff, I’d lean toward late April or May.
