When is the Best Time for Budget Travelers to Visit Taos?

I’m thinking about planning a trip to Taos and would love some advice on the best time to visit, especially for budget travelers like me. Taos is famous for its beautiful scenery and artistic atmosphere, but I’m curious about when I can avoid the crowds and find lower prices. Is it really worth going during the off-season, like late fall or early spring, or do the summer events make the extra cost worthwhile?

If anyone has visited during those quieter times, I’d love to hear about your experience. Were there still plenty of activities to enjoy, or did it feel too quiet? I’m trying to find a good mix of popular sights and hidden gems, so any tips on both would be greatly appreciated!

Late fall can be a sweet spot for Taos! I went in November a couple years back, and it was gorgeous—no crowds and prices were way lower. Sure, some places had reduced hours, but the fall colors and quiet vibes were awesome. If you don’t mind a few things being closed, you’ll definitely find some cool spots without breaking the bank.
