When is the best time to see the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival?

Timing can really make or break a visit to the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival. The blooming patterns shift every year, and I’ve heard that many people favor April for their trips. However, I’m curious—does it make more sense to visit in the first week or the last week of the month for the best views and fewer crowds?

For those of you who have attended, do you have recommendations on specific weeks or even particular days that stood out for the tulip experience? How was the weather during your visit? Any advice on how to dodge the busiest times while still enjoying the vibrant blooms? Can’t wait to hear your insights!

I think the first week can be really hit or miss. I went in early April last year and the blooms were just starting, but it was less crowded, which was nice. If you want to see more flowers in full bloom, the last week usually has a better display, but definitely be prepared for bigger crowds!

I went during the last week of April last year, and the flowers were amazing, but it did get pretty crowded. If you want fewer people, try the weekdays instead of the weekends. Also, the weather was all over the place, so check the forecast right before you go!
