When's the Best Time to Visit Rocky Mountain National Park?

I’m planning a trip to Rocky Mountain National Park and I’m trying to figure out the best time to go. I’ve heard that summer can get really crowded, but it’s also the perfect weather for hiking and camping. Autumn sounds nice with all the fall colors, but I’m curious about how the weather is during that time.

What have your experiences been like during different seasons? Are there particular months that strike a good balance between pleasant weather and fewer visitors? I’d also love any suggestions for affordable lodging or activities during those times!

I went last September, and it was honestly perfect. Fewer crowds, all the fall colors, and the weather was still pretty mild—definitely cool in the mornings though. For budget lodging, check out the campsites or the hostels in nearby Estes Park; they can save you some cash compared to hotels!
